COVER! Josh Kumra - Quickie (Miguel Cover) @JoshKumra

Josh Kurma is pretty much the NEXT BIG THING.

His fanbase has exploded since the Wretch 32 track and with good reason because he sounds beautiful on it. But now that time has passed and its time for Josh to step out on his own with his forthcoming EP. I hope there's a forthcoming EP? Is there? I suspect so.

Anywho, here Josh gives us another reason to call him THE NEXT BIG THING with his very folk/soulfully rich (was that the right terminology? soulfully rich? Hmmm) cover of Miguel's sex driven tune Quickie. His female fans will be swooning.

Its a lovely cover, perfect for the end of festival season, a nice calm down and a perfect antidote if you're having severe withdrawn symptoms form the leak of Josh vocals in your ear drum.

Go Josh! You're THE NEXT BIG THING........ oh did I mention that?

REMIX! Maverick Sabre - I Need (Brookes Brothers Remix) @BrookesBrothers

Oh I do love a good remix, me. And this is just what that is. A good remix.

It seems like with this track the Brookes Brothers decided to pull Maverick Sabre's latest single I Need completely apart and re-build into a dubstep/dance/drum and bass mansion.

Warning! Listen to this through your speakers and not headphones, it may very well feel like a screwdriver to the head if not. Unless you like that kind of feeling then of course, GO HEEEEEEAD.

REMIX! The Rapture - How Deep Is Your Love (A Trak Remix) @atrak

Really though, How Deep Is Your Love? Imagine a guy/girl asking you that. *Puke* but in this song it definitely works.

Here DJ and producer A-Trak remixes the groovy song by The Rapture titled none other than 'How Deep Is Your Love' that is really reminisce of all the old garage/house tracks of the 90s. Lovely. AI'm really feeling this, its kind of new century techno meets clean garage.

My favourite part is definitely where he changes it up at 5.57

NEW! Wale Ft Miguel - Lotus Flower Bomb

I really liked Wale on his first album.

I felt like he wasn't bringing anything amazingly different as an artist but he made some very catchy tunes which are always worth a listen or two but with THIS SONG. He may have changed a 'listen or two' to repeat repeat repeat.

This is stunning. Of course Miguel adds a well needed RnB bit of beauty to the track but Wale is on point with his flow like never before and clever, uplifting beautifully storytelling lyrics really set the love-making tone (yeah I said it!). Love this.

Im excited for more to come. :)

COVER! BELL - Are You That Somebody (Aaliyah Cover) @bellinspace

avatars-000005152502-05tglu-crop.jpg

Oh I'm so in two minds about this cover of Aaliyah - Are That Somebody by American singer BELL. I came across this track via another blog and it just caught my attention straight away. The new furtistic, under water space party instrumental is so refreshing and really revives the song but then agaiiiiiiiiiiiiin the orginial is so musically one point that in many ways that song really cant be touched which also makes it very hard to appreciate it in its entirety.

The use of autotune also puts a different spefic on the cover and really makes me think, I wonder what Aaliyah's music would be like now if she was still with us. Hm. Everytime I listen to this I'm liking it more and maybe its not right to compare it to the orginial? It kind of loses the fresh feeling of the track. Hm. Hm.....indeed.

What do you think?

NEW VIDEO! Mike Delinquent Project ft KCAT & Donaeo - Out Of Control

Oh my gosh, words cannot stress how long I've been waiting for this video. I first heard this song while I was doing my weekly search through radio tracklistings. I saw that KCat had a new track and of course had to check it out, My Destiny was a huge tune.

I loved the song straight off the bat, you can't dispute KCat's stunning vocals and Mike Delinquent always creates the hottest remixes so why would this be any different? Welllll, it seems that the video version has changed the song up a bit so Donaeo's part is now over a which slower, break beat instrumental. Ek. Not a fan of that but even so this is still one of my tunes of the summer!

My repeat button is getting worn out.

Introducing - Theo Martins @TheoMartins

Hm *ponders* how did I come across the hip hop madness that is Theo Martins? *ponders further* I've forgotten but I'm glad that through my long searches for the best new music out there that I found him.

Theo Martins is a hip hop/funk rapper from Rhode Island in that big country called America. He caught my eye mainly because of his old school approach to rap music, theres no real influence of I guess, modern instrumentals, its very old school and brings me back to the days of the greats of Hip Hop.

Now you may very well disagree with my previous statement as clearly below Theo did a remix of Plan B's track Love Goes Down which is of course, very modern. But the difference is that he's bringing a refreshing flashback to the powerful passion behind rap and a more, I guess, serious approach to it. This is hip hop that doesn't take any shit and doesn't use the facade of girls, money, sex, and violence that in turn clouds the true meaning of the song.

Now obviously not every current hip hop artist does that but its present in today's hip hop and as well as liking those songs, its nice to have something real bought too the table. Here Theo Martins music just makes us all remember that with a man's rhymes and an instrumental, a clever and therefore engaging story can be told.

Props to you Theo!

REMIX! Kadija Kamara - Talking 2 Myself (Caligraphist Remix) @KadijaKamara @Caligraphist

Ah this is so stunning. Usually I'm not a fan of amazing songs that then get remixed for no reason but this remix by Caligraphist of UK Soul singer/songwriter Kadija Kamara's debut single ticks all the right boxes.

By infusing her honest (yes a voice can sound honest) soulful voice with jazz and folk influences Kamara's song Talking 2 Myself is a delight.

By listening to both the remix and the original I'm sure you'll agree both are very enjoyable and spirit lifting, they just make me wanna run in a meadow with my shoes off. The original track is definitely more organic and raw but the remix adds a beautiful mellow, groovy vibe to the track which I am loving!

NEW! James Morrison Ft Jessie J - Up @jessiejofficial

FINALLY this has been released. Yes yes yes!!!! James Morrison is most definitely one of my favourite artists and a collaboration with Jessie J is a match made in pop heaven and of course, record label bank account heaven, but hey, its not about that right now!

This is a beautiful song, Morrison's voice seems to ripple through on the bones in my body and paint a memorising picture. Woo, that was cheesy. But yet true!

I will most definitely be buying James Morrison's album.

Below are her covers of Demi Lovato's Skyscraper and Kanye West's All Of The Lights/Lupe Fiasco's The Show Goes On. Its so beautiful, with the right production, styling, all that, we could have a future star on our hands.

Out on October 9th Z Fire infuses a mix of of course heavy grime and hip hop beats. My personal favourites at the moment are Harpoon and Fire Power, oh cant wait to hear the full EP. Definitely give it a listen.

Oh this is so cooooooooooool. Its been ages since I've heard a really really good pop act.

Well...here comes Bossy Love. The Bahamas pop song writer/recorder/performer is bringing what I can only describe as a well needed dose of flavoursome pop. Not cheesy, its very cool. Its the kind of stuff Capital Radio wouldnt play until 11pm (which is when I listen to Capital Radio).

The songs below are mix of techno, disco vibes with heavy pop chorus and verses. Oh I'm loving this *dances like a 5 year old*. Its been AGES since I've had good pop! Can you tell that I'm excited?

British Talent! - Aaron Delahunty @aarondelahunty

Ohhhhhhh *rubs hands* its that time again!!! Yes, that time where I show you another British artist who is a drop in the massive pool of talent the UK has to offer and that I find on a daily basis. *smiles* This like many of others was a press play instant talent. I heard 10 seconds of the track and it was immediate. BLOG.

The pieced tattooed beauty goes by the name of Aaron Delahunty who is bringing some realness, yes, I said realness. The South London born singer/songwriter mixes his strong vocals with heavily rock/hip hop/pop influenced instrumentals and lyrics that will make you slap your momma because they're SO TRUE. (I dont advocate violence, partake or promote it....its just a figure of speech).

Seriously though, this guy is SICK! Think of a mixture between Ed Sheeran, Chris Daughtry annnddddd Plan B? Yes, I hear a little bit of Stay Too Long in there. *opera voice* Loooooveeeee him. *opera voice*

NEW! Dionne Bromfield ft Mz Bratt - Ouch (Demons Never Die Mix)

Ohhhhhhh Dionne. *shakes head* Dionne, Dionne, Dionne. You're soooooo talented its scary, forget the Amy comparison for  a minute, you're a talent in your own right and this doesnt showcase that. *sigh*. Though I do enjoy this track I would describe it as like having a full Sunday dinner.  Why?

It was nice while it lasted but at the end you feel bloated and really wished you didnt eat that last potato but like always, you're more than likely going to do the same next week. I.E - its a song that you play once in a while because you think 'I havent heard this in ageeeesssss' then after that one play you realise why you haven't gone back to listen to it again.

*sigh once more* Nevertheless I do believe that Dionne will come out with that smash hit, its really just a matter of time.....I hope!

British Talent! - 10 Reasons To Live @10reasonstolive

Ahhhhh you know those songs that just make you smile. Well ever James Morrison song does that for me, he is without a doubt one of my favourite artists. Period. So when I saw this cover on youtube I was, to say the lest a bit sceptically but those worries were quickly dispelled when I clicked on that beautiful play button.
I came across this band from Liverpool who go by the name of 10 Reasons To Live next week and I've been replaying their covers on youtube ever since. I mean with covers you can go two ways really. Do the cover and do it justice or do it better, or completely change it up.

Here the band decide to not do all that craziness (like adding rap - who adds rap to a James Morrison song?! The things you find on youtube ah?) and decided to do a simple arrangement with just their instruments and lovely lead vocals from singer Ste to deliver Wonderful World.

Even when the band sing together they sound united. The harmonies are on point and it seems like they're really a group that have worked hard on their craft. Love love love love!!!!

NEW! Yasmin Ft Ms Dynamite - Light Up The World @itisYasmin @MsDynamite

Yasmin's is the latest cover star of Live Magazine so OF COURSE I had to blog this. Within recently being nominated as best newcomer for the MOBO's this year, Yasmin is riding high and she continues that with new single Light Up The World.

I had previously blogged this but this is the official version featuring Ms Dynamite. (I've knew about this feature for quite a while now but obviously didnt tell anyone about it so I'm so glad its out and I can finally talk about it *release*).

The tune is ace. The garage and reggae influences are really, um how should I say this? International. It sounds quite exotic and I could easily imagine someone in Hackney listening to this and also someone in Brazil loving it too. I still don't think we've seen the best of Yasmin yet but for now, I'm happy.

NEW! Cher Lloyd Ft Mike Posner - With Ur Love @CherLloyd

I'm actually quite excited for Cher Lloyd's album.

I could see people reading this and being like WAHT!!? WTF. But at the end of the day, music is subjective and really, this song ISNT that bad. Its actually pretty alright. (Lets not talk about Swagger Jagger). The big pop anthem titled With Ur Love definitely showcases Cher's vocals and its really quite sweet and *pondering* cute. Oh Mike Posner also features on it, I've never really been a fan and that hasn't changed but whatev's.

I've heard quite a few songs off the album already. The nursery rhyme esk tune Over The Moon is so far my favourite. In many capacities its an extremely annoying song buts its definitely grown on me. I'm liking the dubstep element to it as well.

Anywho, what do you think of this track?

NEW! Star One - The EP @StarOneUK

HELLO! So its late afternoon on a cloudy Tuesday, sounds pretty boring and trust me, it is.

But if you wanna spice it up a bit, click play on the tracks below. Production duo Star One from Kent are injecting some serious energy into our lives right now with their use of heavy bass, funky influences and dirty grime rhythms. Which clearly, I'm liking a lot.

Previously the pair had done some remixing work for Ministry Of Sound, Island and Polydor Records but now the duo are releasing their own EP. Below is a little preview of what their forthcoming EP released on 26th September, has to offer.

My picks are the first track, Bagz featuring the amazing vocals of Sarah Lillie, Slow Down and O Maria also featuring Sarah Lillie. But definitely check out the other tracks including the one co-produced by the monster that is Toddla T.

British Talent! - Raphaella @raphaellamusic

Oh I'm so in love with this girl right now, definitely a British Talent. This 21 year old singer from London who goes by the name of Raphaella caught my attention a couple of weeks ago and I've been waiting for a decent video to post about her ever since and here it is!!

Take a look at the very talented English/Persian singer/songwriter performing her track Mirror Face in the middle of St Pancras Station to a welcoming crowd and some dancing kids (so cute!) and below that her performance of track On My Own. I'm liking her a lot because shes not just a voice. Obviously thats the main part but she seems to have a fearless edge to her.

Her mixture of pop and soul vocals are really refreshing and great in this 21st Century world of music. I could imagine her album as a heavy mixture of soul ballads, rock influenced monster songs and massive pop choruses. I cant wait to hear more!

The first single from the Amercia singer featuring J Cole titled Trouble brings a kinda, sexy, understated sassy vibe. Its giving a peak of what Bei Maejor is about as an artist but I think, definitely doesnt show all he has to offer.
I'm feeling this track, it reminds me of a mix between Robin Thicke, The Weeknd and Chris Brown.
Yeah, nice one Maejor.

Ok so maybe this isn't particular new but I only heard this live lounge today and knew I had to blog it. Zed Bias's and Omar's track dancing has (as well as The Trumpeter) been my song of the summer. I love the influence of Afrobeats and the funky vibe that it gives off. Its a song I'll be playing over and over again until the end of the year.

Another reason to love this track is that it clearly sounds just as good live as with the full instrumental. Now thats a song I value. Check it out!

British Talent - 14th @14thSays

So I stumbled upon this quirky twosome a few days ago and I'm definitely liking what I'm hearing. The clearly musically gifted twosome who go by the name of 14th, are bringing some intimate almost mouse like explosion to the UK right now! Whatta heavy juxtaposition, a mouse like explosion, props to my A in English for that one.

The duo are made up of a singer and producer from London. The pair describe their music as an underwater space party. Hmmm, a mouse like explosion and an underwater space party, sounds about right to me.

NEW! Ray Foxx - Butterflies @rayfoxx

I can feel the pressure on Ray Foxx's shoulders right now.

I mean The Trumpeter is such a TUNE and with Lovelle's vocal version La Musica really taking off, theres got to be a lot of pressure to remake that same magic. Well heres his new one and *long pause* its cool.

It hasn't got the same vibe as the The Trumpeter which is good as no one wants to hear the same thing repeated but this new song is definitely more experimental. Whereas The Trumpeter really had a set purpose, for it to be danced to, for me anyway it did. This track titled Butterflies is more versatile. They're lots of different sounds and genres mixed to create a club track but also a chill track. Its also interesting to think of what this track would sound like if it wasn't vocalled.

Hmmm, interesting. Its a grower I think. Do you agree?

Anywho. As her musical journey continues we see more and more of her talent and what vibe shes coming with. Here Delilah shows more of a playful side with this fun, groovy cover of Sia's Little Man. Katy B also done a cover of this, I'm kinda on the fence as to who done it better but its all love here on this blog so ethier way, both artists did it justice.

Serioooooooooooooously. This song is on another level, Lady Leshurr really out done herself.

Lady Leshurr has obviously been a artist on my radar, so far not much of her tracks and covers have really got me excited but this tune is madness. I heard this last week in a meeting and literally everyone in the room was vibing, grooving and had that face which basically means - GOING IN! You know that face, you kinda look like you've smelt something horrible and you shake your head to the beat. Yeaaaaaaaaaaah you know!

I really see no reason why this track can't propel Lady Leshurr's career into a new game changing arena.

British Talent - London Grammar @londongrammar

Ah purity. That is the immediate word I think of when I hear the beautifully intimate voice of lead singer Hannah Reid, of Indie/Folk/Pop group London Grammar. The trio from Nottingham came to my attention a week or so ago and I've been refreshing their soundcloud page for updates ever since. My constant refreshing clearly hasn't worked so I guess we'll just have to made do for now. (But that is a good sign for good things to come!)

The classic, british group mix cool, simple storytelling lyrics and instrumentals with Hannah's Florence and The Machine esk, powerful voice to create a soft, busking, cool sound that is crying to be played at a festival on a beautiful summer's day.

This group is interesting. I could see them going down The Ting Tings kinda route (being edgy and something very modern), but also down the route of The Script by enforcing those big pop chorus and production. Hmmm, watch this space I guess!

NEW! Delilah - Hater/Breathe/I Can Feel You

FINALLY we get some more material from the ever mysterious Delilah, the songstress is quickly leaving her collaboration with Chase and Status behind to form her own limelight with her new ep GO.

Of course we've heard the titled track Go but here are 3 tracks you may have not of heard (well you wouldnt have unless you bought the EP) called I Can Feel You, Hater and Breathe.

My personal favourites are Hater and Breathe. Though the tracks dont really show anything different from Delilah's past tracks (all 3 of them), in the sense that its the same, airy, ghost like sound. In Hater you see a more personal side to Delilah and I guess, get a tiny view into her mind and point of view, whereas in other tracks they dont do that (adding to her mysterious image). Breathe is really cool as it explores (a little bit) more with drum and bass and other genre influences that keep you wondering what you're going to hear second after second.

On the soundcloud its labelled as Alternative Pop, umm, to me its more 26th Century Soul.

I'm trying to figure out why?

I think its the simpicity of this track, its so innocent and endearing. Theres also a great use of silence, yes silence at one point in the track which is used quite cleverly. This is definitely a really hard track to describe, for me anyway, so I'll just let you listen and see what you think.

REMIX! Ray Foxx - The Trumpeter (Chocolate Puma Remix) @ChocolatePuma

If you read my blog regularly (I hope you do) then you know that I am in love with Ray Foxx's tune. I mean seriously, its one of the best tunes that came out this summer.

Sometimes, I think remixes of smash tracks like this just ruin it but not with Chocolate Puma (Whatta cool name!!), with this remix it definitely adds a more, shall we say universal feel to the track. Its kinda like he's taken the track and lied it on top of itself to create double and bass and beat. Do you understand?

Its more Euro friendly, I can see myself raving to this in an underground, dirty, illegal club in Germany. Do you understand now? Just press play.

British Talent! - Charlotte O'Connor @CharlotteOC

Ohhhhhhhhhh GOOSEBUMPS, that definitely equals British Talent!

This beauty (I wonder what mix she is, very exotic) who goes by the name of Charlotte O'Connor captured my attention today with her soft, intimate and charming voice. The raspy tone is really stunning.

The young singer from Blackburn has already made her streak in the industry. Through supporting acts such as James Morrison, The Script, Lissie and more, O'Connor has built up caught a fan base. And now she can add me to the list!!!

Below is her acoustic of her second single Shine On performed at St Pancras station, from the video you can tell shes clearly a very charismatic, passionate performer (WOOP!) and below that is a studio recorded track titled Just Like You Love Me Again. NEW! Tanya Lacey - Born To Fly

You know Tanya Lacey right?

Well you're definitely familiar with her from Loick Essien's number 2 chart How We Roll. Slightly refreshed yeah? Well maybe this most recent track from the London singer will pull you in the Tanya Lacey music realm.

Here's the first real track from Lacey since How We Roll titled Born To Fly, which is really really cool. It has a nice chilled out vibe, it definitely shows her potential to make it big on the 'urban' scene and also kick it into the mainstream. It will be interesting to see how they market her and present her brand but with music like this it seems like shes already got a solid foundation.

I look forward to hearing more.

NEW! Wretch 32 ft Delilah - Dont Be Afraid

This lovely track comes from Wretch 32's most recent top 5 album titled Black And White. On the album it features some very talented people such as Angel, Ed Sheeran, Chipmunk, Etta Bond and more but this feature with up and coming songstress Delilah titled Dont Be Afraid really sticks out for me.

I'd definitely pick this as a next single. Though because of Delilah its quite similar to Dont Go its still has its own identify with the more up beat instrumental and dirty vibe, its really refreshing. Delilah also sounds amazing and it would be another great platform for her. But who knows?

Its a great tune!

NEW! Professor Green Ft Emeli Sande - Read All About It

What happened to At Your Inconvenience? Oh well, second single it is! Here Pro Green drops his second single from new album At Your Inconvenience (both the name of his album and his first single) titled Read All About It featuring the hottest female singer in the UK right now, Emeli Sande.

This might be a strong statement but in this track Pro Green reminds me of Eminem. And no, not because hes white, because hes really raping about some deep subjects but still makes it a track that isnt depressing. You hear the passion and hurt behind the lyrics but like Eminem in songs such assss Lose Yourself, Love The Way You Lie and most recently Lighters, the tracks are easy and enjoyable to listen to.

It conveys a message but also entertains. Thats what makes a hit!

NEW! Copyright Ft Imaani - Story Of My Life

I came across this earlier today and I LOVE IT!!!! Such a summer, party tune.

I know Imaani (the singer on the track) has been on the music scene for years but here the singer drops her beautiful and almost antique (I mean this in the nicest way, its a voice you'd hear on an old garage tune!) voice over this very, energetic instrumental.

Props to Copyright on this dancefloor smash!

COVER! Edei - Cry My A River (Justin Timberlake Cover) (@edeimusic)

This artist who goes by the name of Edei fast came to my attention I think late last year with her debut single titled In My Bed.
It was caught quirky and interesting so I kept my eye on her and with good reason as the 22 year old songstress came back with her cute and uplifting second single Loved. But aside from the singles Edei regularly drops covers of quite well known tracks, this one in particular quite my ear/eye/whatever as its simplicity is something that I find rather beautiful.
Check it out!

NEW! Sugababes - Freedom (SBTV A64) @sbtvonline

Wahey the Sugababes 2.0 return. Its been ageeeees since I've had them perform acoustically and they sound GOOD. Jade Ewen clearly stole the show but its the Sugababes 2.0 so they know their roles and each have their own talents.

I'm not really liking the new single, nothing particular original in my eyes but I'm loving this acoustic. Based on this I'd definitely like to see them live. So raise your hands for free-dom-dom-dom.

NEW! Bridget Kelly - Quickie (Remix) @theycallmeBK

YES Miss Bridget Kelly!!! I have to say, I honestly had doubts about whether you could produce a track good enough to revile the amazing female artists coming out of the USA but it seems I was wrong to have those doubts.
Here the Roc Nation singer bangs OUT a stunning remix of Miguel's track Quickie. The best thing about it is that I can't really see any similarities between this track and any other artists. Ok maybeeeee theres a bit of Keri Hilson in there but not enough to took over the track. Its clear that this sexy, attention grabbing song is done by Bridget Kelly! Gwan girl! Take over.

Introducing - Stacy Barthe @StacyBarthee

Really, how do I start? Words can't really describe how excited I am that I found this amazing artist and superstar songwriter yesterday. Her music is so captivating and her beautifully suttree voice is like a secret being whispered in your ear. Her name's Stacy Barthee and every since last night I've been hypnotized by her tracks taken from her EP Sincerely Yours.

In so many ways she reminds me of Emeli Sande. Shes clearly a very passionate and emotionally driven songwriter, she has a powerful voice but one that doesn't need to be used to its limits to sound amazing and also the ability enchant. Yes, I said enchant and I meant it! Beautiful beautiful beautiful!

Oh, did I also forget to mention that she has written hits for the likes of Black Eyed Peas, Britney Spears, Keri Hilson and more and ALSO done a track with Frank Ocean which is below. This woman is a musical gift.
