New cover from Shakka featuring a little help from a big voice, singer Vula. Loving this! He always brings that fresh twist to it, mayn, so much creativity is oozing from my speakers right now I'm drowning.
I've been gushing about this guy for what seems like forever now so I'm so glad he's getting the recognition he deserves for his IMMENSE talent. I'm so jealous of his management and Jessie J lol I wanna work with him SO bad! LOL.
Interesting cover here from UK singer-songwriter/kind of rapper Emma Blakk. The songs on her soundcloud sound cool but I'm liking this a lot. Everyone usually does covers of obvious songs but this was a surprise. Lavely!
Jessie Ware is the epitome of class and just what music needs right now! She's like a soft earthquake, I feel like this is the calm before the storm, that moment of tension before the cat catches the mouse. This has the potential to be epic and I am on board all the way! #TeamJessieWare! lols.
New single from production duo Star One and singer-songwriter Sarah Lillie who I wrote about a while back in one of those infamous British Talent posts ;). They've all teamed up to deliver the ever-so bass heavy but yet soulful tune Respect. The B-Side production, Swag and Punch In The Face remix of the single is also really cool - definitely for those late night drives home from the clubbbbb.
One of my favourite songs from one off one of my favourite artists right now, Azari & III, tune Lost In Time has gone a got a remix! If you haven't checked out their album then bloody-well-do because those tunes will send your into a different time zone! The original is amazing the remix does it justice also.
You remember when I first blogged about this tune when it was uploaded to soundcloud then the host took it down?! Grrrrr I know but HERES THE VIDDDDDEO! Wahey. I'm loving this song, Pop with a dancehall twang and just shows a bit more of this new pop princess's vibe is like.
Another MNEK production, yeeeeeeeeep. Give it a check-a-ruh.
Every since Dawn joined Danity Kane we knew this day would come. The day she'd out grow the group and Diddy to step out on her own and though I LOVED Danity Kane, I cant say I'm not happy to hear her solo music. And rightly-so as it looks like Dawn has come out like a gorilla ready to ambush with this captivating tune and video!
Yes-sir-y I feel like this is just the beginning of something special, could this be the 21st Century Brandy? Maybe so.
I've been following Lulu James on soundcloud for AGES now and just a few days back she uploaded her first track from her up and coming EP, titled Rope Mirage. It had previously been featured on Annie Mac's soundcloud as a Free Music Monday give away which to be honest, could you ask for more of a co-sign?
Very cool track - nice teaser for what's to come I hope....
Yes - the official video from Swedish born Beatrice Eli and her first single The Conqueror. Been waiting for this for ages now! Am I the only one who thinks he looks like Skylar Grey? The edgy singer-songwriter is bringing a minimalist dub vibe with those ballsy lyrics and vocals. Nice debut.
New track from producers Copyright featuring Imaani. I LOVE these producers, they always give such an old school favour to House music, and its always really really refreshing. Ah, I just think of Miami pool parties when I listen to them.
What I LOVE about Wretch is that he always has those lyrics that you just what to hear over and over again, you learn them and when you rap along you actually feel like a sick rapper yourself!? No? Am I the only one who feels like that? Oh cool.
But yeah, excellent new Usher refix from Wretch right errrrr. 'You can call me a prick, I'm a cactus' lol - that line just stands out to me for some reason. Yep - Sickary.
New shizzle from Azealia Banks, and its a free download. Wahey! Produced by the monster that is Diplo the track is a nice sequel to 212 and the tracks off his previous EP, the same upbeat anthem and slightly controversial lyrics.
New British Talent post! WOOP! And it's a big'en, in the vocal sense because this boy has some amazing pipes on him, yep he sure does! I found this band last week and stumbled upon there immensely cool cover of D'Banj's Oliver Twist. Props to them for taking on the challenge and acing it because its a pretty distinctive song.
The band are currently now working on their EP which I'm super excited for. Though their original material isn't on youtube you can check it out on their facebook page right here.
When I saw this on my youtube feed today I nearly jumped out a window. I LOVE VINCE KIDD! I've never even meet the guy but I'm professing my love for him on the internet, this is insane, but his talent is INSANE! I must have played this on repeat about 30 times now and so will you because it's the definition of modern vocal greatness. Yeah I said it! BOOM.
Some new Jay Nizzle (Norton) pon-de-bizzle (blog)! Have you download his mixtape yet? DO IT RIGHT HERE! I think this is one of my favourite Spare Room Sessions, a clever mash up here and vocals ALWAYS on point. Yes nice one Jay Nizzle!
I tweeted about this bwoy the other day. I can't quite remember what I said, probably something along the lines of 'YES! @JoelBakerMusic', detailed ah? But that 'YES!' was meant to be symbolic of a fist pump in the air to his great voice. I've been listening to his soundcloud for a while now, though the stuff on there is cool I'm more interested in what else he's working on because with the right song and an epic band, yes, it would be an amazing gift to my already spoiled ears.
Check out his refix of Kanye below and a little something something from hes soundcloud.
Some new ish off Walt Disney signee (yes Walt Disney!) Shannon Saunders. I wonder what she'll be like as an artist? She's quite a blanket canvas at the moment but with a beautiful voice of course and great song-writing abilities by the sounds of it, I'm excited to see what she'll do. Lovely. This makes my heart smile.
I've been a fan of Azekel for ages now, every since his first debut with track New Ish (which is a VIBE! Check out here) , since then I've been waiting for some New Ish from him (Lol did you see what I did there? hahahaha - anywho), yeah some new music from him for a while and I'm so happy it's here.
New track Stuck has that same edgy sound of New Ish but with more of a jazz influence, really really fresh.
OI OIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII! Dare I see this is like Skepta's All Over The House but more tasteful? Yep.
A very nice X-Rated tune from Bashy but if I'm honest I'm mainly posting this because Maiday is on it and I'm obsessed with anything musically she does - I just need an EP from this girl like NOW. Anywho, enjoy.
Some smooth Sunday vibes from Disturbing London's front woman, singer/songwriter Sasha Keable and Ben Totten who I'm guessing she co-wrote this with or is on guitar. Her voice is so rich, gosh I cant wait for this girl's EP.
Excellent new video from Context! Who knew he could swim ah? Excellent production from Great Skies also. Man I just love that line 'I dont know if it was the tune-age by The XX or the text from my ex ending in an X X' - ARGH! *nods head in approval*, sickary.
Yes another Introducing post ladies and gents after the awesome Linkoban. If you didnt see that check it out HERE!. Anywho, heres a excellent bit of minimalist soul music from Amsterdam singer-songwriter Mar. The album artwork above is something else ah? Lols - I'm loving this guy!
I just came across Mar today, I just love his music overall as a full package. You know you hear some artists and you can pick out what parts you really like about them? Yeah with this guy I just don't want to pick it apart. His music is so delicate and beautiful, picking it apart and analysing it just seems wrong! PLAIN WRONG. He's currently working on his album with producer Full Crate which I cant wait to hear.
Yes, stunning stuff. Check out in particular - Our Attempt, 2u4u, the beautifully produced Aftersexin' and all the rest in between. Stunning!
Oh-my-shizzle-me-nizzle. Did someone just mention the almighty Diplo and the insanely heavy Dutch producer Vato Gonzalez in the same sentence? WHAT!? They have a song together? Oh lard, oh lard, this is epic. Prepare your speakers for some serious CHOONAGE! Yes thats C-H-O-O-N, the epic kind of tune. *Heads straight to de dancefloor*
Loving this new EP from Boom Ting Recordings (possibly the coolest name for a record label ever!) producer Etherwood. Titled Shake The Foundations the EP sees Etherwood making his signature D&B beats with some bollywood influenced riddems (yes Bollywood!), Break beat, House, Electro and lots more. In particular the first track Spoken is a stand out - maybe because its the only one with a vocal, that seemed to lift it right out my speakers and from 1.30 the change in tempo takes it to the next? Yeah, defo!
New shizzle from Lil Simz with her immense swaaaaaaaag! Here's her rendition of Nelly's Just A Dream which, though rough around the edges, is beautifully written. Dont the lyrics just make you want to get off your ass and conquer the world?! I like this a lot. Audio version please?
I LOVE ARCHEO!!!!!! Since his first tune Mr General (click on the British Talent post if you havent heard it) I've been watching this guy like a hawk to see what hes going to do next and this is it! When I first saw that Scorcher was featuring on this it was a bbm-cover-face moment cause its just so RANDOM but when I listened to it I was pleasantly surprised. It seem to gel relevantly well.
I like the production on this too, its just so gritty and I think that its great that Archeo is so much like Marmite. You're either on broad or not, and I am fully aboard because really, whose making music like this right now???!!!
B Traits is doing da ting right now! This song is everywhere on radio and now it can be all over your tv screens. I'm so excited to see what this Canadian producer/DJ is going to do next, its rare that you have female producers so props to her for not only represent, but also with a sick tune! Yep - Digital Soundboy.
This is stunning. I've been a fan of Lily Mckenzie for a while now but its hard to decide whether I love her voice or whether its just the production that captures you in the tune but this acoustic below just shows so much of a great vocalist she is! Whats next Lily?
You remember Rebecca & Fiona? The Swedish duo that make some cooooooool underwater trance tunes. Here's their new video for new single Dance. It's a cool song, very understated, it also helps that the duo are insanely beautiful as well. Doesn't make the video so bad to look at. - Check it!
British singer/songwriter Syron first appeared on this blog a few weeks back in the Rudimental track Spoons and now here's her latest tune titled Here. I really like it, its got a cool laid back vibe, beautifully written and produced, yeah, a nice taster of what's to come I hope! Did I mention the fact that she looks amazingly cool? Agyness Deyn thing going on. Gwan girl.
YES, a video for this tune-age. Theres been countless remixes of Ayah Marar's awesome single Mind Controller floating around for AGES and finally a video's surfaced today.
Daymn this girl is cool! Love the simplicity (I'm a fan of simple videos), what she's wearing, of course the actual song and the fact that you actually get to see a bit of what shes like, charismatic, fun and someone who likes to throw some shapes on the dancefloor - sounds like my kinda girl - lets hang out Ayah?
Wahey! New British Talent post and this one just like the others, is a musically gem.
Ruby Ann Patterson came under my radar a few weeks back when her booking agent pointed me into her harmonise direction. Whatta beautifully pure voice she has ah? I could imagine seeing her at a gig and hearing this voice radiate through the venue or being in the toilets and rushing out to see who the hell is on stage! (Have you ever done that? I love that feeling!) but yeah, she sounds GREAT!
I love the character in her voice, the way she holds melodies and also the different side she shows in her track Goodbye. You'd look at her and think, yep, Corinne Bailey Rae but when you hear Goodbye you think dang, this girl's got some sass! Love it. Props to you Ruby!!
My obsession with the coolest duo on the planet 14th, has been taken to another level! They've growth so much since I first blogged about them back in September last year, they've featured in RWD, I-D (below), The Guardian, performed countless shows and so much more. Man, I just love em - I'd kill to be their A&R.
The last time I wrote about Raphaella was oh, last year September, since then shes definitely growth as an artist and thats perfectly demonstrated in this beautifully written and performed song titled Above The Water. Written by herself, Hiten Bharadia and Tobias Kampe this song has just wrapped itself around my ears and won't let them go. The chorus is so powerful and really memorable. Yeah, I really love this!
Can you believe its March!!!! Oh my word this year is going amazingly fast. SO much has happened in this month for me, I've been to Poland went to The Brits, new Live Magazine came out and lots of milestones in my career so far.
Very exciting but now February is over its time to reflect on the musical greatness that has graced this blog over this very short month and admire the talents that have been shared. So yeah, here are the February Highlights.....
Off Colour perform another beautiful cover for us youtube viewers in the form of Nina Nesbitt's tune Skeletons, it's really really pure and simplistic (and plus I LOVE the guy who sings first's jumper! It's so cool!) - but yeah, they sound great. I just wanna hear their original material now.....come on guys, fill me ears with greatness *fingers crossed*!
'Has London forgot my soul, cause London doesn't know my NAME' YES ALF!!!!! - Project Alfie performed an acoustic of his track Beggin live on CJ Beatz show, if you're not familiar with Project Alfie by now then slap yourself because I've been blogging about him for AGES now lol oh, that slap looked like it hurt, I take it back, don't slap yourself, just be ashamed.
I've seen Jamie George live twice now, he's performed both as a support act and even with the crazy vibe of the room, I've never really been able to fall in love with his tunes but this remix is doing it from me right now! The original track is to low tempo but this remix by Tickles has such a fresh effervescence about it, yes, effervescence!
Probably one of my favourite artists that I've found in the last year Phlo Finister, has a new video! Taken from her Crown Gold EP, the Youthquaker goes mod with black and white visuals, exaggerated eye make up and simplistic settings. Not just a beauty but a person that oozes creativity, I can't WAIT to hear/see whats next. Brilliant production by Jay Curry.
Oh my word!!! You do not know how happy I am to see and hear this! I've loved Nina Sky seen their very first tune, onto the album that didnt do very well, their EP and all the other bits and bobs they had but YES I'm so glad to see a full visual. Cant wait for their up and coming album!
I'm liking this relatively new vibe they're going with, hard synths, edgy lyrics, hard melodies, beats and mature themes. The vibe of this whole thing is so serious but very very cool and the visual is really intriguing and creative. Yes ladies! I'm happy I continued to believe in you all this time - this was worth the wait.
Check out this new track from LA lyricist Azad Right! It grabs you by both hands as he depicts his feelings of frustration! 'You slept on me but I got some comfy bucks on my band wagon' - Love that line. Great instrumental from The XX too.
