I interviewed Kendrick Lamar the other day, he was a lovely chap to talk to, talked about his up and coming album, his London show, his album with J Cole, the Tupac hologram and lots of other cool thangs. Worth a watch!
I find it great that this girl has such a strong fan base but I've never heard her on radio or seen her on any blogs really, I love that! Anywho, new video from Swedish pop sounding songstress Florrie, love the styling, look, direction and the tune's pretty good as well ;)
New Disclosure, WOOP WOOP. I just saw the guys come on at Jessie Ware's set at Hackney Weekend and the way the energy levels went up was sick! Came across these two new tracks today, in the same thread as some of their other tunes minus a vocalist.
My love for Jessie Ware continues to blossom, (I always say that every time theres a new tune of hers) and with good reason as the girl literally is - and I quote from the Guardian website, The British Aaliyah. I KNOW, when I read it I was like wwwaaaaahhhttt *screw face*, even though I love her tunes thats a bit extreme, but after hearing this tune in particular, I SO get it.
I love how Nina Sky have evolved! I last blogged about them with their excellent single Day Dreaming and here they are with their new single Heartbeat. It's in the same thread of Day Dreaming, very modern and mature but it a bit more electro in there. I'm a huge fan!
New album out July 32st titled Nicole And Natalie. Really looking forward to that!
I dont think I've ever blogged about Catch'em before. Well what a great way to start ah?! Really like this tune. I really like the laid back vibe, some cheeky lyrics in there as well but it's so chilled out that you dont really notice the profanity. Perfect for a sunny June afternoon.
Check out his mixtape Year Of The Dragon Stout out 20th June
Dont get me wrong, I love me some Delilah and I am really looking forward to her album but really, how many low-tempo songs can she release?! This is a nice track but I'd like a bit more differentiation please.
Ah well *shrugs shoulders*, here's another solid tune from the songstress. Bring on the album!
The very talented Cleo Sol has been doing her thang for yeeeeeaaaarrrs and finally her time to shine. I wasn't to keen when I first heard this song but its definitely a grower as I keep singing it. Beautiful video as well! Really really excited for the album.
Hey hey! Oh gosh, May is already over. How crazy! So happy its June, that means festivals, sun (hopefully!), my birthday *cough* 21st and more progression. Woop! Here are some highlights from my blog over the month of May.
New Last Night In Paris joint! It's along the same thread as the rest of their material, this alternative R&B ambient vibe. Looking forward to the group mixtape and them further building themselves as a brand. Cant wait to see the growth!
Kymberley Kennedy! I've known about the las for a long long time now, I've been waiting to blog about her and now the time has come after she uploaded this infectious tune titled Puppet Master to soundcloud today.
It's got a great great afrobeats vibe. Really fresssssh.
One of my favourite artists Sam Sparro has a new album and I LOOOOOOOOVEEEEEE IT! He's gone all disco funk on us, it's literally one of my favourite albums of 2012 so far. The layers of instrumentals, the wonderland lyrics, has rich rich vocals, everything is just so sweet. I just imagine his live show to be full of disco lights, a bubble machine, glow sticks with this aura of mellow coolness in the air.
I love the album as a whole but below I've spotlighted some tracks that are my particular favourites. I hope you enjoy them as much as I do!
Remember Luke James?! Blogged about this American soul singer last year October. He's done quite well so since and ow he's debutted his new music video for track Mo Better Blues. I've been singing the hook for ages now lol. Real smoooooth.
I came across this young Lewisham producer yonkers ago on the night he uploaded his first tune. I was thinking about his music today, checked out the soundcloud again and it still excited me so I thought whatta perfect time to blog. This is Wisky, 16 year old producer/remixer from London. He's really early in experimenting with his production but of this early stuff below I really really liked the vibe and am excited to hear how a vocalist or MC would sound on his beat and generally how he evolves as a producer, after all, thats what my blog is about, following artists/producers journeys as they evolve. Its all about the journey :) Have a listen!
Lols, I dont know how I feel about this song. All I know is that 'We're getting Freaky Freaky Wow Wow' is suck in my head after listening to it so it must have something. Love a bit of harmless fun pop.
